Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the Certified Population Health Pharmacy Analyst (CPHPA)?

The CPHPA is focused on the *data analytics* of managing populations within a health plan or health system. The CPHP is much broader, covering core public health sciences like epidemiology, health policy, and emergency preparedness, and is geared toward roles in government and community health.

Do I need a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree to be eligible?

No. While an MPH is excellent preparation, it is not required. The certification is designed to validate the public health expertise gained through a combination of pharmacy education and relevant professional experience.

How is the CPHP certification renewed?

To maintain your certification, you must complete 30 hours of continuing education (CE) focused on public health, epidemiology, and emergency preparedness every three years.

What is the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)?

The SNS is the United States' national repository of antibiotics, vaccines, and other critical medical supplies for use in a public health emergency. The pharmacist's role in dispensing from the SNS is a key competency on the exam.
