Use this framework to efficiently process any clinical surveillance alert.
- 1. Anchor to Risk: First, ask "What specific harm is this alert trying to prevent?" (e.g., bleed, toxicity, treatment failure).
- 2. Quick-Check Trio: Rapidly assess kidney function/weight, drug levels/timing, and any contraindications or duplications.
- 3. Communicate Clearly: Structure your recommendation as: Recommendation + Reason + Monitoring Plan.
- 4. Document Everything: Note what you reviewed, who you spoke with, and the final agreed-upon action.
- 5. Know When to Escalate: Immediately escalate for severe toxicity risk, hemodynamic instability, or critical med-device interactions (e.g., neuraxial + anticoagulant).
