Welcome to the flight simulator. You have spent the last three modules studying the blueprints and operational manuals for the most complex “aircraft” in healthcare—the major EHR systems. You have learned the theory of flight, the rules of the sky, and the emergency procedures. Now, it is time to get in the cockpit. This capstone module is a fully interactive, hands-on simulation lab designed to bridge the final gap between knowledge and skill. You will apply everything you’ve learned in a safe, browser-based sandbox that replicates the look, feel, and logic of real EHR order composer screens.
From Flight School to the Full-Motion Simulator
In your retail practice, you became an expert through repetition. Your first hundred prescriptions were slow and deliberate. Your thousandth was faster. Your ten-thousandth was pure muscle memory, your hands and eyes moving with an instinctual efficiency that allowed your brain to focus on the higher-level clinical checks. This lab is designed to accelerate that same process for the hospital environment.
Think of this module as a high-fidelity flight simulator for pharmacists. Reading about how to handle an engine failure is one thing; actually sitting in a cockpit with alarms blaring and having to execute the correct sequence of keystrokes to stabilize the aircraft is another entirely. Our “Data-Entry Replicas” will present you with a series of high-stakes clinical scenarios—a DKA patient needing an insulin drip, a post-op patient requiring a complex PCA, a septic patient whose antibiotic dose needs urgent renal adjustment. You will have to navigate the order composer, input the correct parameters, respond to alerts, and catch the embedded errors, all against the clock.
This is where you will build true confidence. You will make mistakes—and our simulator is designed to help you make them safely. Each error will provide instant feedback, linking back to the core principles you’ve learned. You will practice not just until you get it right, but until you can’t get it wrong.

The Simulated Order Composer
You will work within a realistic replica of an EHR order screen, complete with required fields, tooltips, real-time dose calculators, and functional hard and soft-stop alerts that mimic real-world challenges.
Dynamic Scenario & Error Engine
You’ll tackle a library of high-risk scenarios (DKA, heparin drips, TPNs, PCAs). Our error engine will dynamically trigger realistic pitfalls like missing weights, incorrect diluents, and ambiguous PRN orders for you to catch.
Instant Feedback & Guided Remediation
The simulator provides instant, field-level hints when you get stuck and generates a comprehensive after-action report comparing your work to the gold standard, with direct links back to the relevant course material for review.
Keyboard-First Efficiency Training
Beyond clinical accuracy, you will practice for speed. The lab is designed to help you master keyboard navigation, including proper tab order, quick-pick frequencies, and numeric entry, building the muscle memory of an expert user.
Performance Analytics & OSCE Prep
Your attempts are logged and can be exported, providing you and your instructors with valuable analytics on your progress. This data is an ideal tool for identifying areas for improvement and preparing for practical exams (OSCEs).
