The Retest Process
Candidates who do not pass their certification exam may reapply to test again. The following policy governs all retest attempts:
- After your results are posted, you must wait a minimum of 45 days before submitting a new application for the same examination. Applications submitted before this waiting period has elapsed will be denied.
- A new application must be submitted through your MyCPS candidate profile. You will be required to re-establish and attest that you continue to meet all current eligibility requirements.
- The standard Retest Fee must be paid upon submission of your new application, unless you qualify for a fee waiver under an official promotion.
- Your new 90-day testing window begins on the date your retest application is approved.
Annual Attempt Limit
To maintain the integrity of the examination process, a candidate may not take the same certification exam more than three (3) times in a calendar year (January 1 - December 31). After three unsuccessful attempts in a calendar year, you must wait until the next calendar year to apply again.
